who wrote this story and what's it called? - by drastik on 10:33 21 Mar 2005
i read a story many years ago, and cant remember what its called. starts off with character(some type ot first contact scout) being chased into a cave by locals who wont go in, reason being , a symbiotic organism in cave that usu kills unsuitable hosts. the character survives symbiosis, story then goes on to relate further adventures of the scout and his symbiote (called 'pard'). benefits to synbiosis include longevity, hyper-acceleration of movement strength increased etc. question is does any body know what the story is called?
thanks in advance drastik

First off, welcome to the forums!
I'm afraid, however, that I don't recognize this book. Unfortunately, I tend to read more fantasy than anything else, and this sounds like it could be sci-fi. Maybe someone else out there will recognize this?

Possibly by Jim Farris - "published author and composer". If it's the same guy I stumbled onto his stuff after reading about his Dungeon Siege mods. He has a load of ebooks available and the Pandora books kinda sounds like what you're talking about. I can post a link if it's permitted but the comment before mine suggests not...

You can post a link. We are interested in learning about new authors and if it helps answer the orginal poster's question that would be great. We just try to avoid affiliate links or self promotional posts which would not apply in this instance.

I thought it might be this:

but after re-reading it I'm not so sure. Still, worth a try!

I can't say what I read in the teasers would move me to make a purchase. However you gotta admire a guy who runs the gamut from SF to Romance.
