I was looking for and brainstorming ideas of things to put on my new promotional-ish site. I found a system i really haven't seen anywhere else on some of the online comics in my button exchange.
I think they are called dropboxes they commonly use a javascript to generate a form select or 'dropbox' with all the member sites as options. As members are added they are included in the remotely hosted javascript and availible immediatley on all the other member sites.
As programming goes this is fairly simple as it is .. and the script was declared free to use by its originator and had some addons put in by others. i did find three distinct scripts being used for this type of thing. i took one i thought to be the most versatile and added a couple things to it. it now will rotate a microbutton for the sites alongside the dropbox. and i set it up in a way that a microbutton can be run without the site being in the dropbox ... it wasn't as simple as it sounds, er, it doesn't sound that simple either
... and vice versa, a site in the dropbox without a microbutton.

I like the way this works and the size too. It can fit anywhere which is really handy. It is often hard to fit full sized banners on the page.

This is a great, creative idea.
I love it! It creates a mini-community, adds site promotion, has graphics, and is simple to use. It's extrememly flexible because of it's size, and will fit on any site.
There isn't a thing missing from this!
