I only listen to very few "modern" bands. Most of the bands I listen to are either underground or were around since going back to the 60s, 70s and 80s. I never really cared for bands like Likin Park and all that. Whats your thoughts on the music know?

Well, I guess it depends on what you consider "modern". I do not like the "boy band" and "teen diva" trend. That, to me, is not music. Granted, I think that some of the individuals themselves are talented, but could do much better musically to contribute to the art.
I am not a big fan of rap. Sure, it started in the 80's but did not "boom" until the 90's. Again, there are exceptions to the rule, and many of the artists are talented, but....
The majority of consumers are too easily pleased, it seems to me. *shrugs* Just my opinion.

I have to agree with you. Alot of my bands I tend to listen to a really great bands to me. They are all underground bands who play music the way they want to and not what the "public" wants them too. Thats what makes a good band or singer to me.

But seriously, there are a few more recent bands that I like very well. System of a Down is one of them. Or rather, I like what I have heard of them so far, as I do not own any of their albums. There are several bands of which I like a few of the released singles from their albums. However, for all I know, the rest of the album could be garbage.
I've not been real big on the music scene as some of my peers have been through their life. I usually have one or two bands I like very well, and the rest I may listen to sporadically. Funny, considering how much I do like music and how important it is. *shrugs*
How about this? Can you name any "modern" bands that you do like?

*shakes her head* Nope. I can't think of a single modern band that I do like. Most of the stuff that I enjoy tends to be a bit off the beaten path, like Delerium.
Speaking of which, I found a great album this weekend by a band called Amethystium. If you like Delerium, you'll like them. I'm trying to think of what category they fit into and I can't quite decide where to put them. Anyway, the album is Odonata, if you are interested in checking them out.
But, back to the topic at hand. No, I just don't care for most of the modern stuff. It's so formula-based, so homogenous. I can't tell the difference between most of the boy bands and teen divas. They all sound exactly alike. And they're all so glitzy-candy. Ick.

I do like System of a Down... Coal Chamber... Type O Negative (though they really are older then you think), The White Strips.... And thats all I can think of. For know anyway.

Don't they have the "Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground" or something? I think that was them.
