The Incredibles - by Arislyn on 10:21 11 Nov 2004
Runt and I made it a double feature Sunday by seeing both Grudge and The Incredibles. Heh. I've just been lazy about getting the second review up.
The Incredibles is an excellent film. The animation is top notch but the plot is even better. I went into the film expecting a lot of super hero antics but what I actually got (along with the super hero antics) was a story about a family that was going through some hard times, as all families do at some point.
Possible plot spoiler:
What the previews don't make clear is that the Incredibles didn't simply retire from crime fighting in order to settle down and start a family, they quit because they had to - all the heros had to. After a spree where citizens sued the pants off of the super heros for damages and loss incurred during the act of being rescued, the law stated that there would be no more heros.
This, of course, leads to a lot of unhappiness and stress in the Incredibles lives as they struggle to suppress their own desire to help mankind, whether they want to be helped or not.
The plot touches on a lot of very adult matters that I think will go right over most kids heads but that the parents will appreciate. On top of that is a good heaping of butt-kickin', hero action and humor. It's definitely well worth the money to go see!

The Incredibles was great! I really liked it, and unfortunately don't have the money to go see it again. I think Ari summed it up nicely with her review, and I only have one more things to say:
You know you're a geek if, as you're watching the movie, you're trying to build the characters in your head using the HERO system... :P

I know they are raking in the dough with this film. With the holidays coming up I bet it will do even more business.
