I just have a quick question: is there anything that someone can do if they find out that someone has used their address to spoof spam email?

For the past couple of weeks, I've been getting bounced mail where someone apparently sent out spam using my address. Honestly, I don't think there is anything I can do to stop this and, unless someone comes forward and tries to blame me for the spam, I probably shouldn't be too worried about it. However, it annoys me to no end. I hate the thought that someone out there is putting my email on a blocked list when I never sent message one!

Of course, I'm sure that is how 98% of the people in my blocked list got there, too. Someone spoofed their addresses...

Not that I know of.  Also many viruses spoof email addresses.

Hehe. Yeah, I figured there was no help for it. Like I said, though, it just irritates me. Ah, well....maybe I'm coming across as caring when I send out those emails telling guys how to "enhance their manhood".  :p

Come on! If you're going to use my email to spoof your spam, at least come up with something new to sell. I'd happily let you use my name if you were going to revive "Little Johnny Bag of Glass" brand toys!

If you post a email address on a website for contact or feedback purposes the spammers spiders will pick it up and they will not only send youo spam they will also probably spoof your email address.

There are a couple of ways you can encrypt your email address so that the spiders cannot read it.  Here is a thread all about different ways to confuse email harvestors.  Still you should always use a throwaway email address on websites, when it becomes too spammed out move to a new one.

*grins* Yeah, I know. I've just been too darned lazy to go in and change my addy on all my pages. (My contact info is in my navbar....on ALL my pages). Whenever I start feeling inspired to get back into RPGs, I'll definitely go in and change that, though.
