The kind folks at SciFi Signal  give a nice, albeit short, list of films that you may not have seen but may enjoy. Included in the list are a lot of anime (mostly Hiyao Miyazaki).

I've seen all the films listed except for Avalon and Equilibrium. Of course, all Miyazaki films get high marks in my book because..well...I'm a screaming, Miyazaki fan-girl. *grins* Dark City I saw in the theater and really enjoyed. I was a little confused by the way it was greeted by critics as being not-so-good. I found it to be a lot of fun. Gattaca, on the other hand, I couldn't stay awake through. Bored me to tears.

That looks like a fantastic list.  I think I'll open up Netflix in a new window and start adding.  Thanks for pointing that out Ari.

I have a list of top SF films from a few years back you can download as a PDF.

I really like Gattaca, BUT it is slow and quiet.  I think the beauty of the cinematography kept me watching when the action didn't, but if you dont like pseudo 1930's looks then I wouldn't recommend it.  I also like Jude Law when he is playing slightly obnoxious characters.

Yeah Dark City was pretty cool.  I didn't think Gattaca was that bad.  Not great, but not awful.

Anyone remember/like DarkMan?
