Hehe! NoonChild was razzing me over in the FFX2 thread about giving Sailor Moon a hard time and I thought I'd post a little something about the show over here.
Though I am not a fan of the version shown here in the US, I think that I may actually like the uncut version. I read somewhere that the episodes we see here are terribly watered down and anything that may be considered controversial or "inappropriate" is cut out. For instance, I believe that two of the Sailor Scouts (errr...Uranus and Neptune, maybe?) are supposed to be lovers but the episodes have been editted to make them appear to be cousins, or friends or something. Also, some of the scenes with antagonists have been cut because the costumes are too risque. Lastly, and this is the biggie, the series ending was basically mangled by the US because they deemed it too harsh. Instead of having scouts die in the final battle, they've been editted to make it seem that the evil characters kidnapped them and they may come back after Sailor Moon saves them.
Now, I haven't actually seen either the whole US version or any of the supposedly "uncut" version, so I have no idea if this is true. However, I'd be much more willing to watch a non-watered down Sailor Moon.

Ive never managed to see any episodes in order, so the plot is beyond me. I just like hero girls with skimpy costumes (although Moon and Mini moon are the worst looking) Me like Neptune and Mercury? I think although I get confused.

Yeah, I haven't seen any of the episodes in order, either. It's so annoying when stations do that! If you can't follow the story, then it sort of takes away from the show, regardless of what genre the show happens to be.

I have heard the US versions do cut out a lot of stuff that the Japanese versions had. The US versions have been sanitized.

I own the first two seasons of Sailor Moon uncut....they are awesome. There are so many things you wouldn't think were in there. I prefer the second season over the first but I've also seen the US versions and the uncut Japanese is so much better. I almost cringe in pain from seeing how the US masacared the episodes. You really should watch the uncut versions. Much better. I swear you'll be a sailor moon fan in no time at all.

See, now I'm going to have to see if I can find somewhere that rents the uncut version! *grins* I don't think I'm quite ready to commit to buying it, just yet.
But, it is good to hear that the entire series isn't as bad as I had thought!
