Just watched the finale of the latest British series of pop idol, and Michelle has won. I can't beleive the fuss that our tabloids are making about the fact that she won even though she was overweight. I mean, what is this competition??? Surely its about singing, not appearance! I don't know if you guys in America see our version, but I for one am glad that someone who weighs more than 6 stone has finally won something like this. In Britain at least, thats almost unheard of. Anyone else watch it?

I've never seen the British version, but I did watch a little bit of the American version when it first came out.
That is a very pleasant surprise! Thank goodness someone finally was recognized for their talent rather than their weight/appearance. I know that in our version, several people got the boot because they didn't meet the "idol appearance criteria" which apparently involves being no bigger around than a pipecleaner.
However, I know that at one point, there was an overweight lady who made the first cut, but I don't recall whether or not she made it very far in the competition. Anyone else remember?

Anyone watch World Pop idol? Apparently Norway won. I didnt see if the guy was any good though.

The Norway guy was actually really good, he managed to do a U2 number without trying to be Bono (Who, after all, thinks he is as good as lennon, the fool) .....
