I know that I'm a little late in announcing this here, but I figured I'd still give a heads up for everyone who wold like to participate.

NaNoWriMo is challenge to write a novel of 50,000 words in one month (November). Now, the creator of this event knows that trying to crank out that much literature in such a short period is going to yield a lot of crap, but great writing is not the point of NaNoWriMo. The whole point of it is to get writers to stop analysing and start imagining, to let go of the need to wordsmith every, single paragraph and to just have fun with writing. It's more about breaking past writer's block than enything else.

From the NaNoWriMo site:

Quote
Valuing enthusiasm and perseverance over talent and craft, NaNoWriMo is a novel-writing program for everyone who has thought fleetingly about writing a novel but has been scared away by the time and effort involved.

Because of the limited writing window, the ONLY thing that matters in NaNoWriMo is output. It's all about quantity, not quality. The kamikaze approach forces you to lower your expectations, take risks, and write on the fly.

Make no mistake: You will be writing a lot of crap. And that's a good thing. By forcing yourself to write so intensely, you are giving yourself permission to make mistakes. To forgo the endless tweaking and editing and just create. To build without tearing down.

So, check it out! Have some fun and write some fabulous trash.  :D
