Okay, just ran across a painful website and just wanted to remind everyone of one of the big no-nos of webdesign. (And, no, I'm not going to post the address. I don't want the poor webmaster who is probably just some 13 year old who is having fun with AOL to get their feelings hurt.)
The entire background blinked. Oh, dear god. All the epileptic websurfers in the world just went into convulsions. Ack!
No blinking! Never, never with the blinking!
Okay. I just wanted to drive that home. Thank you.

Wow a blinking background -- that would be rough. I think the biggest problem I see is slow loading times. People just will not wait 2 minutes for a page to load.

Yeah. What they had done was take a small, animated gif and tiled that as their background. So, you had dozens of individual blocks blinking at you. I didn't even stay around long enough to read the site. As soon as I could get my eyes to focus, I was out of there.
