Kill Bill Volume 1 - by Haruchai on 22:01 10 Oct 2003
I went and saw this today...

I really liked it. Now, as most Quentin Tarintino movies, it is full of cussing, blood, and cool combat sequences. Not for the kiddies.

But a d@mn good flick.

Action, humor, awesome fights, anime... this one has it all. It was well worth what I paid for admission.

For those of you unfamiliar with the movie...

Possible spoilers ahead:

The Deadly Viper Assassination Squad is headed by a man known as Bill (David Carradine). Black Mamba (Uma Thurman), is a member of the team and is getting married, is with child, and evidently wants out. This is not acceptable. So, the assassins go after her, at her wedding, slaughtering everyone... including Uma, who has a bullet put in her head by Bill. However, she lives, and wakes up 4 years later, seeking revenge.

Carnage ensues.

The second volume is expected in February.

(the beginning of the trailers also contained my first glimpse at the Return of the King. Can't go wrong, my friends...)

Runt and I saw this over the weekend. I'll add my opinion....it's an excellent film. Runt and I kept arguing afterward about the style. He claimed it was modeled more after the old, 70's kung fu films (which I can see), while I argued that there was definitely a live-action anime feel to the whole thing.

It's definitely worth going to see...as long as you're not squeamish. *chuckles* It is, after all, a Quentin Tarantino film....

Saw tarentino being iterviewed about this film by one of our UK comedian/Talkshow hosts (Jonathon Ross - he also reviews films on Film 2003, he's a real buff).
They mentioned the fact that the yellow suit Uma wears is a tribute to Bruce Lee's last film where he wears one.  At this point JR shows pics of a similar suit his wife had had made for him for his Birthday.  He was wearing it everywhere - cooking, watching TV etc.  And tarentino thought it was soo cool.  Maybe he was jealous but I'm sure he has enough money to get one made for himself if he really needs it.
Looking forward to this film when it comes out here.

Humerous doctored pic on web somewhere, where someone has replaced Uma's sword with a cardboard tube.  Tiltle says "Annoy Bill"  :D  Well I thought it was funny....

Heh! Runt wins....though, I still say there was a definite live-action anime feel to the movie, too. :p

I persist in my incorrect notions, dang it!

Kill Bill Vol. 2 is coming out fairly soon. In case anyone is interested, here is a link to a trailer.

Personally, I'm looking forward to seeing the ending to this film. The first one was oodles of bloody fun.
