Are you targeting all the keywords you can on your web pages?  Are you targeting the right words?

The folks at Search Guild Forums are providing a free download of the Even Better Keywords tool.

Why is it "even better"? Because people are running around selling these for $30 or more and they are loaded with spyware and adware.  This is absolutely clean of spyware and adware!

All you webmasters should grab a copy for a rainy day.  :)

See I just saved you $30.

Oh! Nift! *grins* I'll check this one out. Thanks, Brad!

I got a chance to play with this yesterday.  It is pretty nifty.  You can use it to see which is the more important word/phrase to target (ie: portal vs. directory) etc.

It is intentionally not lightning fast.  It is intended to mimic human speed so you don't set off warning bells with automated queries coming to fast.

Nifty little script.

Better explanation: First it queries Overture for alternatives to your keyword or phrase then it searches AlltheWeb for the best ones to go for

Hmmm...well, I attempted to try it last night, but I keep getting an error when installing the program. Apparently, it tries to overwrite a file that my PC just doesn't want to let it have access to. I have so many firewall/anti-virus/anti-spyware programs on my PC that it could easily be one of them preventing this.

I'll keep tinkering and see if I can get it to work.

You might need to close IE (and all other programs before installing).

If you still have trouble you might want to ask chris at SearchGuild.  Here is the thread:

D'oh! *smacks self in forehead*

You know, as many times as I've seen that little message "close all programs before installing" that pops up on every third program I've ever put on my PC, you would think I would've thought of that!

*laughs*

Thanks, Brad. I'll give that a try when I get home tonight. :)

I can't swear that is it.  It uses some shared files with IE and it might have problems if IE is running when installing.

I got an error on installing - I had to get a newer version of Windows installer from Microsoft - then I could install it.  After that it installed cleanly.

*nodnod* Gotcha. I'll keep that in mind, too, if closing down IE doesn't work. I think that may be it, though, since the file it was trying to overwrite was an mshtml file.
