Happy Holidays! - by Arislyn on 10:06 29 Dec 2004
Okay, I know this comes a little late since Christmas is already past but....I hope everyone had a great time! Much food, laughter and love to everyone.
My holiday ended up being punctuated by a timely ice storm that gave me a nice, long holiday from work. Go, go ice storm!

Heh, much like Ari, we had a nice ice storm on Wednesday before xmas, and wouldn't you know that on xmas day at about 2pm one of my pipes busted in the kitchen. Luckily there was no damage, and both of us were home. We got everything out of the way in time, and once everything was said and done we cleaned up about 55-60 gallons of water with our two wet-vacs and our rented Rug Doctor. Now we have some wonderfully sour carpet!
Anyways, I hope that New Years is much better. Everyone be safe and enjoy yourselves!

Well, I can't claim any parties and such over these latest Holidays. Spent Christmas and New Years on the roads in Iraq. The departure on the 23rd was ridiculous since it was low-priority load, but at least was an "uneventful" trip.
And, yes, Ice Storms are generally nice (though, greatly increases my work-load in my civilian job), but we had a heat-wave here in the Kuwait/Iraq area. Night-time temps a couple weeks ago dipping below freezing with day-time temps not much higher. The warmer weather is a relief.
The MWR center at Camp Cedar held a pretty good New Years Party, but you can't even get a "buzz" off the near-beer or alcohol-free wines in this area. Oh well, good fellowship for all who were able to attend, I had MTS watch.
Our platoon gift exchange happened yesterday after we returned from this latest mission. I know I liked what I received, (a Draconomicon). Almost bought it at the PX, here, before that last run.
Take Care all and Always Look on the Bright Side.

I had a wisdom tooth infection over the Christmas period and couldn't drink any alcohol on my two lots of anti-biotics. Eating wasn't that fun either as I couldn't open my mouth properly.
However on the up side I was planning to be in Sri Lanka this Christmas but we cancelled when one of my partners relitives got ill. We would prob have been safe in Colombo when Tsunami hit, but who knows! That relatives terminal cancer may have saved our lives.
Point of interest: I was warned that if I drank alcohol on these particular anti-biotics I would be violently ill. I wondered why they were worse than normal anti-biotics so looked them up on the internet. I seems that they have a chemical structure very similar to antabuse (drugs given to alcoholics to discourage their drinking). Very interesting I thought - but it made me avoid liqueur chocolates and tiramisu just in case.
