I have started watching the Joss Whedon series Firefly on DVD. The series only ran less than half a season before Fox pulled the plug.

One of the things the suits at Fox did was force the series to be shown out of order.  (Gee, were they trying to kill it off or what?) The DVD set is set up in the proper episode order that Whedon envisioned and it makes a huge difference.  Suddenly little details become clear and the character development makes sense.  In the proper order this series rocks.  The writing and acting is good and so are the production values.  It's all very tight.

If you can rent the DVD's I suggest you do.  I think you will enjoy them.

I've heard this show was good and I fully intend to check them out.

They didn't run the episodes in order?....whuh...? Makes Ari brain hurt!

I just don't understand why in the world any company would not run a series in order. I mean, that's like reading chapters in a book randomly and expecting it all to make sense. Like you say, no wonder the show died early.

I guess they didn't think the original premier was exciting enough as an intro, but I thought it was great.  Plus I think it aired on Friday nights, another nail in the coffin.

I guess they are filming a feature length movie of Firefly for release in the theaters. I will actually go see that.

I could never seem to get in to this series, although it sounded like something I would like.  I wonder if they showed them out of sequence in UK too.  I only managed to catch 1 and 1/2 episodes thereabouts and I kept forgetting it was on.  That is always death when trying to get in to a new series.
