Finians - by Arislyn on 21:17 21 Dec 2003
I haven't actually seen or read the latest book in the Slaine RPG by Mongoose. However, their newest book, Finians, caught my eye when surfing today.
Basically, it's a sourcebook for a bunch of different human tribes. What I like about this is that it is expanding more on the human aspect in (what I assume is) a medieval/fantasy-ish setting. That's one of the things that I really liked about Greyhawk. You had definite cultures for the humans. Granted, you do somewhat in Forgotten Realms, but it just never struck me as being a huge part of the game world. No one would argue that there simply aren't distinct cultures in FR. After all, you have the desert folk of the Anauroch (sp?), the Shire-like Dales, Kara-tur, Chult, etc. However, it always seemed like the human cultures got lost among the demi-humans and various organizations, to me. *grins* But, that's just my impression.
