FFRPG Rules - by Arislyn on 17:35 29 Jul 2002
First of all, let me tell you how to play. (After all, I'm sure there are those of you who have never FFRPGed before.) It's very simple: Someone will start a thread telling a story and you take on the role of a single character within that tale. Each time you post, you would do so from that character's point of view, reacting to whatever happens around the character and to other player characters. What writing style you wish to use is completely up to you. If you like to write so that others do not know what your character thinks, thus making him/her a bit more of a mystery, that's fine. If you like to expound upon the character's innermost thoughts and feelings, that is perfectly okay, too. Write in whatever way makes you the happiest.
Honestly, I'm not all that big on rules. I only have a few, meager guidelines for those of you who wish to join in or start your own free-form roleplaying stories here on the board.
1. Whenever a member starts a new story, he/she needs to set up the rules of the game. Will the story creator act as a game master or will it be a completely free-form with little or no moderation? Will there be a limit to the number of people accepted into the thread? What is the theme? Is there a limit to the classes / races to be played? All of this information should be posted in the "New Stories" thread so that people can quickly see what is available.
2. Absolutely no flaming. I will not tolerate people using the story threads as nothing more than a poorly veiled excuse to deal out abuse on a personal level. If the characters have a disagreement, that's fine. Fight and argue away! But, there will be no personal attacks on this board. If you have a problem with another player, take it to private. (I don't care if you are fighting with each other; I just don't want it to be public. It's none of our business.)
3. No gratuitous sex. I'm trying to keep this at a PG level. It's fine for the characters to be romantically involved and to have deep, meaningful relationships....Heck, it's okay for them to have shallow, one-night-stands, too. Just don't write out long, involved descriptions of the sex act. If you do, I reserve the right to go in and place random Monty Python quotes in their place.
Well, I think that's about it, really. I'm sure that I'll think of a couple more, but I'll add them later as they come to me. :)

Uhm... what about meaningful sex?
*whoops, bounces about like Daffy Duck, and exits the thread*

*laughs* Yes, you can have meaningful sex but that, too, is subject to the Monty Python Rule, wherein I mangle a MP quote to make something else up.
"She petted his parrot which, though he claimed it was merely pining for the fields, seemed quite dead to her."
"I long for your crunchy frog....."
"And, in his passion he cried, "Cuidado! Las llamas!"

4. No hijacking other people's characters. Your character is the only one you own, so no matter how funny you think it would be to dress Bob's character in a tu-tu and have him prance about the Dales singing songs about fluffy kittens, you can't. Well, technically, you can but I'll just delete that portion of your post.

Aye, aye, Cap'n!
*grins* It was worth a shot.
Cuidados! Las llamas! *chortles* It makes her hot....
