Enterprise is back

And it's bad, no really bad

Last Weds. Star Trek Enterprise episode was not a rerun.  But I ask myself why do they bother?  The Enterprise gets hijacked by religious fanatic suicide bombers.  Does that sound suspiciously familier?  The whole episode was so unsubtle and "preachy" that I was very disappointed.  Enterprise gets preachy far too often.  The upside is it did have action in it.

I think they are getting desperate.

Star Trek has always "borrowed from the headlines". It is a franchise ideal.   STOS, had a cold war with Russians (Klingons) and Chinese (Romulans).  They had color racial issues and dealt with hot scientific topics of the time.  STNG copied its share of the news, but mostly they pulled ideas from trash science.  STDS9's situation and a few of their plots were totally pulled from the Israeli/ Arab world situation.  (Dominion could be seem as a religious war...).  Various subplots of Voyager were cribbed from the news, though less than most ST series.

Enterprise doing this could be seen as them trying to regain the versimilitude that permeated the other members of the franchise.  It could be a good thing. Really.

I generally agree with that Moonhunter.  I guess my main complaint was that it was very unsubtle.  To me the best comparisons come in when you say to yourself, "hey I wonder if they were talking about X and so," a couple of hours later.

Now, most here know I was not a Voyager fan.  Nothing wrong if people liked Voy. it just was not my cup of tea.  So with all the above said, I still like even this episodes better than most of the Voy episodes I watched.

(Not to start a debate.  Just my own opinion.) :)

The good part about this episode was they had some action in it.  And they are trying like you said Moonhunter, at least they are trying.

They redeemed themselves this week by importing Andorians and especially actor Jeffery Combs.  It was a good episode.  :D
