I borrowed "Dinner at Deviant's Palace" from my brother and it has been my favourite fantasy/horror book for years.  But our copy disappeared and I cant remember the authors name.  It was set in futuristic LA, and follows a man who in rescuing members of a powerfull cult discovers disturbing links to a debilitating drug culture and is hounded by a ghostly vampire version of himself who desires to eat our protagonists flesh in order to become coporeal.
Any ideas?

Hi Noonchild,

Tim Powers is the author.  I highly recommend just about anything written by him.  I really like his stuff.

You can check at Amazon.com (or Amazon.co.uk)  they might be able to locate a used copy even if it is out of print.  If you are in the US then I also recommend Powells.com for used books.

I'd start checking used book stores.  It will eventually come back into print in a less expensive edition.

The first book I read by Tim Powers was "Drawing of the Dark" which was his first novel.  I have been hooked ever since.  Another good one is "Cenotaph Road".  Another I liked was "The Stress of Her Regard"  He has many more books and he keeps getting better as a writer.  So while you are looking for D at D palace you might want to try one of these?  ???
