I have been seeing alot of trailers for Constantine and was wondering what everyone thought about it. I fell that although they changed alot of things about John Constantine, I think the film will be just as good as the comic. The special effects look amazing. I think Keanu might even pull this one out. Another good site for trailers is hellwantshim.com.

I've never read the Constantine graphic books but the trailers for the movie certainly look interesting. I will definetely be checking it out.

I haven't read the novels, either. That's probably a good thing, though. I try to make it a point of reading the books after I see the movie, if possible. That way, I can enjoy the movie without any preconceived notions of what the characters and plot should be like and then get the full scoop on paper.
I think I'll probably want to see this, too. It looks like it could be really good. I'm just hoping that Keanu makes Constantine different...not just a rehash of Neo from Matrix. (I know he's capable of it. He did a great job as the villian in Much Ado About Nothing.)

This was better than I thought it was going to be. Keanu did a great job and maybe his best role to date. I did go into the movie knowing that they changed some things from the comics and to tell you the truth, it didnt bother me at all. The storylined flowed well even with a couple slow points. If you check it out stay till the credits are done for an extra scene that is worth the wait.

Haru went to see this with his fiance a few days ago. However, he posted his comments over on the Comics and Anime board. I figured I'd copy/paste his review here, so you don't have to jump back and forth to read.

I also saw Constantine last weekend and, while I definitely liked the movie, I can't say that I liked Keanu in it. I know that I was supposed to feel some sort of sympathy or pity for him, considering his situation, but I didn't. *shrugs and chuckles* However, I definitely liked the story and I loved the twist on what they did with Gabriel. Runt and I were talking about that and comparing it to the film Prophecy all the way home, afterwards.

| Well, Lisa and I went and saw Constantine today. On a scale of 1-10, with 10 being the best, I give it an 8 and she gives it an 8.5. Now, never having read any of the Hellblazer books/stories, I can't say whether I was disappointed or thrilled in the adaption as compared to the comics. However, I really liked the story, they explained things easily enough to follow them even if you haven't read the comics, and it had a good amount of action. Also, there were kick-butt trailers of the upcoming "Sin City" and "Batman Begins" movies. I was recently introduced to Sin City by a good friend, and am elated to see that Frank Miller is co-directing the movie. Some panels from the comic are directly put into the movie. Very cool. |
