Huh! Now, I may have to get this when it comes out. Sony Online Entertainment is creating a single-player version of Everquest for the PS2.

Champions of Norrath - by Arislyn on 12:32 14 Jul 2004
We finally got around to buying this when we went on vacation last month. (Yes, I know. You're not supposed to take your PS2 to the beach with you, but when it rains...well....there's really not much else to do other than watch TV.)
If you like the Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance series, you will certainly like Champions of Norrath. It is made by the same folks as BG:DA and you can tell. The spells and classes are a bit different since they are based on Everquest, but the game controls and graphics are all the same.
Class choices include the ever present barbarian, cleric, ranger, mage, and a class new to those not versed in EQ, the dark knight. I think I may be missing one, I'm not sure. (Pulling from memory at work). I'll check later.
So far, I've been enjoying playing my Dark Knight. Her strategy is cowardly, but fun! Much with the poisoning and then running away as her spell does damage over time. Yup. You just wait until the buggers are weakened and then beat the bejeebers out of them.
One of the fun things about the game is that you can customize your armor and weapons by adding different components to them, much like in Diablo II. So, it's possible to create a whole set of gear that is specifically tuned to your play style by adding to damage, armor, resistances, etc.
It's fun and one that you should pick up if you enjoy a good hack n' slash, Diablo-esque game.
