Bulletproof Monk - by Arislyn on 09:29 22 Sep 2003
This is one we rented last weekend and it is a hoot! Great action and a lot of fun...and with the elements of magic involved, I'm figuring this one fits nicely into fantasy.
The basic story is this: A monk has been given the duty of guarding an ancient scroll which, when read, will give the reader everlasting youth and great power. A Nazi bent on eradicating all different people from the land goes after the scroll and fails. 60 years pass and it is time for the monk to chose a new guardian....even as the former Nazi, now an old man...continues to pursue the monk in his dreams of glory and power. Who does the monk find to train as his apprentice? A pickpocket with more potential than he realizes.
As the monk says, "Fish can not live in water that is too pure."
Bulletproof Monk is chock full of action, sprinkled with mysticism and possesses a great sense of humor and fun. I definitely recommend renting this one.
