I'm pretty sure that I've mentioned Bookcrossing.com here before. It's basically a place where you can journal about the books you have and then "set them free", so that others may read them.
I was updating my profile today when it occurred to me that some of our regulars here may have Bookcrossing accounts. We're all happily, avidly literate folks, here.
If you do have an account, I'd kind of be curious to know the address of your bookshelf, just so I can see what you've read and maybe converse about them.

Boyf picked up one of these in an Airport. Neil Gaiman book called American Gods - I suppose it is fantasy genre - which I like and now don't want to pass on, but feel obliged as without the passing on people I would not have read it!

*glee* I'm just happy to hear of someone who has actually picked up one! I mean...I visit the website, I know that plenty of people do pick up the books and read them, but I'm afraid that all the ones I've released are languishing in lost & found boxes somewhere.
I think it's just tough for most people to overcome the fear that they may be stealing something, even though most bookcrossers are overzealous in their application of "Free Book! Take me home!" stickers and post-its.
So, what was American Gods about, anyway?

The idea is that there are incarnations of all diff Gods brought to the New world with various immigrants, but now Gods of TV, Technology etc. are more popular and the old Gods are dying. Our main character is recruited (for reasons only clear to the Gods themselves) by Odin to help recruit other Gods for the up comming war with the modern Gods. Very well researched, and had enough mystery to keep me reading. I like Gaiman's style in general anyway.

I may have to see if I can find that one and give it a read...once I've finished what I have. Heh! I already have a bit o' reading backlog to work through.
