I am looking for the title of a book that I read when I was a kid. The main character in it was named Saa and he came from a civilization that lived under the Earth and was pretty
advanced. They used a material call Oonyx dust to power their machines.
The start of the book tells of a hurricane that hit the coast of town and two children were hiking along the coast and saw
a statue stuck in the side of a cliff that had been sheered away by the hurricane. It had a map or something on it that led them to this Saa character and he in turn took them to his civilization under the Earth.
The books tells of their travels to his home and of the problems that caused the extintion of his race.

I don't know the name of this book either. When it comes to older books or older YA series I'm pretty good, but I can see that I'm quite unfamiliar with the more recent stuff.
