Beware Outskirts! - by maitaman on 10:28 22 Aug 2004
Writers -
If you get an e-mail from Outskirts Press about some kind of notification, do not respond, or you will find yourself being spammed by them. This is considered highly unethical among publishers, so BEWARE.
I would further recommend against doing any business with them. Their claims of special deals with Amazon etc. are false. They are simply calling the standard ISBN listing a special deal. You get that from Ingram with an ISBN automatically, no matter the publisher.

I looked them over when I was gathering up lists of publishers and decided not to list them. Outskirts is very much a vanity press publisher (eg. you pay them to publish your book.) Which is crazy considering there are places like lulu.com, cafepress.com and ebookad.com where you can self-publish without paying up front fees.
