Monsters are the mainstay of horror. Vampires, Werewolves, Ghosts, Zombies, Aliens, etc. etc. But what is everyone's favorite monster? What do you like?

Of the classic monsters I like the vampire the best. I'm not sure why that is, but of the early horror books I read Dracula was by far the best and most engrossing. It is interesting how influencial the Universal monsters are, when anyone mentions horror the wolfman, vampire and Frankenstein are the first that come to mind.
I also liked the 50's B-Movie, radioactive giant type monsters.

I've always been partial to the werewolf, myself. There's something about the primalness (is that even a word?) of the werewolf that I like. The shedding of the chains of civility and giving in to ones most basic needs, becoming animalistic....that's what I like. It's also what I find a bit scarier than your basic undead. Everyone has felt the passion of base emotion, the desire of the body, and I'm sure that most can imagine what it would be like to lose complete control of the ability to think clearly and restrain oneself.

My favourite monster is the vampire, but thats mostly because my favourite horror books are about vampires. I think werewolves have more potential but less people write about them.

Yeah, TMB, I would put Jason in with the monsters, especially if he has a supernatural element. It seems like he never dies which I would say is supernatural. I don't think I have seen anything but the first movie so I could be wrong on that.
