Has anyone watched any episodes of Battlestar Galactica yet? I caught the first couple and it was actually pretty good. I like Edward James Olmos in the Adama role. So far I'm not taken with Apollo and Starbuck, but I like the new look of the cylons. I've been favorably impressed so far.

I have not seen it, but I have been reading reviews. A lot of people say that if you never saw the original, then you will like this. It probably is better than the original which had a lot of problems.

I haven't watched it, yet, but I have it sitting on Tivo waiting for me. (Tivo....it's like a tiny god that tells me what to watch.
) I may have to settle in and have a look later this week. Runt keeps telling me that I need to watch it, but I'm afraid my new games keep winning the War for My Attention.

See what I would miss is the glowing eye light on the Cylons. I have to admit to throwing Cylons in to old Traveller games for comic relief. Like Cylons trying to hide in ambush in a dark alley with those glowing eye-lights swinging back and forth.
Or the Cylon hiding in the outhouse looking out of the moon cutout in the door and not quite understanding that everyone could see that stupid eye-light.

I missed the old Cylons too. The new Battlestar was good and bad. Good character development, kinda rushed at times...never saw the enemy much. The Blonde girl was great.

They do still have some of the old cylons around as well, although in fancier metal casings. And the Glowing eye light is there. It's even there on their fighter ships, which I like.

I was a big fan of the original film and series, but I was quite young so I cant remember specific episodes. The remake series has finally reached the UK and I LOVED IT!
Remembered why it was engaging the first time, and it wasn't just the velvet costumes and camp baddies. Humans are threatened as a species and continue to get sick, starve and die. A bit like the Odessy, the war is behind them - The focus is not the battle(anihilation) but survival. Also I always loved that the commander and his best Captain, his son, are not the American Idyl of father son bonding. They have an awkward relationship, with resentment and history.
Apollo and Starbuck were not really developed as they were trying to get all the plot aspects in, but Im hoping that in later episodes they will be fleshed out more.
The idea that some Cylons are human looking and among us is good (yes the blonde is great), but I dont remember that from the original...am I just forgetful or is that a modernisation thing?

That must be a new thing. The Cylons were sort of a hive culture with smarter ones like "Lucifer" ruling over the common soldier Cylons. All where machines.

Watched third(?) episode the other day and who did I see playing a prisoner on the prison ship -Richard Hatch, the original Apollo! I like it when they do that (as long as the actor is OK at acting), it worked well in Smallville where the actress who played Lana in the movies was playing Clark's mom.
Still waiting for Starbuck to get interesting.
I miss the old Cylons too, especially the noise that they made, a sort of buzzing power source type noise. However what I have seen of the new vamped metal Cylons I liked. They have the scariest hands ever , I can finally see them as threatening which I could never do before, even as a kid.
