Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance PS2 - by Brad on 15:36 26 Jul 2004
I guess this is an oldie now, but it is new to me. The graphics are just stunning and the controls are easy to learn. They include a tutorial which teaches you the basics very quickly.
Like Arislyn mentioned in another thread, Baldur's Gate on PS2 does not have the role playing depth that the computer counterparts had. In reading up on it there are also fewer characters. But as a dungeon crawl this is great fun. I can see where folks who have played the computer version might not like this because of the lack of role playing but then even the best CRPG cannot measure up to a real human face to face game. This is good hack n slash. I was impressed. I'm real glad I bought this one. I know it is also available for x-box and Gamecube so if you have those systems grab it.
I see there are more Baldur's Gate titles available, like BG:DA2. Has anyone tried the sequel? If so, what do you think?

I haven't tried BG: DA2 yet, but it's on the "to buy" list. I'm waiting until I beat Champions of Norrath before picking it up. And, considering that I'm still addicted to Dark Age of Camelot and am playing Morrowind again, that could be awhile!
Speaking of Morrowind, you may want to see if they have a version of that available for PS2. I'm pretty positive that it's only available for PC and Xbox, but it can't hurt to look. Morrowind really has a great amount of depth and replayablity considering the range of character classes, boat-loads of non-linear quests and the fact that you can create your own class.
