Heh. I think this quote sums up why D&D is still around after all these years:

"Gygax says: "There is something in D&D that strikes a chord in many people; the call of adventure."

Who doesn't want to be a hero....or a villain? Either way, you get to be more than the store clerk or bus driver or middle management drone that you happen to be in real life.

Yeah, and it is a social game.  It's an opportunity to hang out and interact  with real people and not have to make small talk about our boring day jobs.

Hehe! True. Of course, that in and of itself can get out of hand if you have several people who are hugely proud of their characters. I know I've sat through more than one "My character is so great...." story in my time. (And told quite a few of them, too! :p Guilty as charged.)

I too am guilty bragging on some of my characters  ...even to my LT, here in Kuwait (he plays, too...YES!!!!)

Seriously, though.  I liked the article.   One of the responses mentioned they are now playing characters that are the children of their previous characters.  I like that idea!

Question is:  Would Callon's children be human...
...or like he now is???   Any thoughts on that?
I believe Arislyn and Haruchi would know to what I am referring. :;):

Hehe! Yeah, I've played my character's children before. It's a lot of fun to already have that much history behind your character right at level 1. :)

[geek out]
Okay, since Callon was originally human and was transformed into his current cat-like state, I would assume that the change is complete all the way down to genetics. Of course, we would have no idea which genes would be dominant, so I would roll to see which was the strongest gene. Then, I'd do another roll to see whether the child actually had recessive or dominant traits and apply those by working with the player to come to a mix that they enjoyed.

*laughs* Now, if you want to do a Super Geek Out, you can do a grid to figure out the probability of getting claws, fur, etc. But, I'd opt for a simple roll o' the dice, myself. :p
