Any musical suggestion to download... Songs and stuff. Anything rock or classical. Or something from the 80s new wave bands would be nice. Thanks.  :D

VP,

Have you tried The Boomtown Rats?  80's new wave.  2 faves: "Tell Me Why (I Don't Like Mondays)" and "I Never Loved Eva Braun"
Any sugesstions - by VampirePrincess on 20:14 20 Nov 2002
I will check them out thanks.  :D

there was a bob geldof (of the boomtown rats) album that came out in the 90s / called 'the happy club' which was much different than the boomtown rats music .. which i thought was a little much in places. 'the happy club' is much more lyric driven and the music simpler and more homey acoustic fiddley stuff.

i've been partial to Blue Oyster Cult for older stuff. they are either really good or really bad . and could be classified as one of the first heavy pre-goth bands. there are some good things of their debut album of the early 70s. and 'secret treaties' is one of my wife's favorites, but i think just cause it has a song about the WWII german jet 'ME-262'

and i downloaded the title track to Cowboy Beebop and found that 'Tank' is a good song to listen to over and over while cruising in city rush hour traffic in a large SUV.

din, you need to get some more CB stuff. Most of the music from that series is excellent, especially if you enjoy blues/jazz.

VP, you may want to try downloading the song "Forces" from the Berserk soundtrack. It's very 80's-ish, with synthesizers but has a heavy, almost metal backbeat to it. I'll have to find the artist's name for you when I get home. It is, of course, Japanese and I don't remember it to save my life.

Not really New Wave, but it is very 80's. Try some stuff by the Eurythmics.  Has a dark edge to most of it.  "Sweet Dreams" is a good song along with "Obsession."

Eurythmics .. i like them , i think for annie lennox's voice more than anything ...

quickly rifling throught the cds i have nearby ... devo, belly, sinead o'conner, jesus jones Liquidizer, the clash ..

ari, there is a nice jazz radio station i can barely get in out of dusquene .. which i think i spelled wrong, i'm making a list of Jazz stuff that catches my ear as I work. Some of the CB stuff is on my list too.

You may want to try some Concrete Blond, as well.

The Ramones - all punk - all the time.  No deeper meaning, gotta love it. :)

I will confess to a guilty pleasure: Blondie.  They were the New Wave band that really helped launch Punk.  Again there is a dark undertone in their songs.

I love Blondie. Awsome band... And The Ramones know they were awsome.

k thought of a couple others .. from the same cbgb's crowd .. The Talking Heads .. and from over yonder .. The Clash .. both with music that changed over the span of their runs but was still pretty good. and from the Mick Jones form The Clash has a band with widely varying line up and sounds . Big Audio Dynamite (B.A.D).

LOL!  They are all on the CD "Fit to Be Tied" *Oh my!*

Okay so I'll tell you all my Joan Jett story.   Almost 20 years ago now, I showed up to work my shift at Waldenbooks at the local mall only to find the two guys already on shift had turned into babbling idiots.  I finally got a coherant story out of them.

Joan Jett, who was playing at a nearby very large theater, had walked in, dressed all in black leather, not 10 minutes before I arrived and had bought a copy of "The Story of O".   ???

This had reduced my coworkers into drooling protoplasm for weeks.  I, of course, was completely shattered that I had missed it. *####*

Brad, that was a cruel, cruel story about Joan Jett in black leather and "The Story of O."  Now how do you expect me to sleep tonight?

:p

Siouxsie and the Banshees, B-52s

Any sugesstions - by NoonChild on 11:40 23 Mar 2003
Siouxie, Joan Jett, the Ramones, Blondie - all fantastic.  For some 80's pretentious posing try some Adam and the Ants (or AdamAnt later on) : "King of the wild frontier" "Prince Charming" "Stand and deliver".
Any sugesstions - by din on 12:18 23 Mar 2003
Kings of the Wild Frontier was one of my favorites. Antmusic, Jolly Roger, Stand and Deliver .. good piratin' music :D  nothing is much more silly than sombody dressed up and an native american / pirate / highwayman .. i will have to find all those again . wild frontier, dirk wears white socks .. hmn,.

NIN did a remake of Physical (you're so) on the the album Wish which is nice.

Any sugesstions - by NoonChild on 12:38 23 Mar 2003
Ahh what lyrics "Stand and deliver, your money or your life.  Try and use a mirror not a bullet or a knife." Talk about being stuck for a rhyme.
And Blondie's rap [I]"the man from Mars is eating cars, then eating bars, where the people meet..." Great!
