I've only seen the first episode of this so I cant comment too much, however I thought maybe the series aired ages ago in the USA and my friends accross the Atlantic might have something to say...
Basically, for anyone who has not seen it, 4400 people who all disappeared from different decades streaching back to the 40's are returned to Earth by unknown forces/intelligence. Some of them begin to exibit strange super human abilities.
Oddly as a Sci-fi fan I liked the human elements more than the rather formulaic Sci-fi bits. eg I was touched by the story of the man who returns to find his wife with Alzeimers in a grotty old folks home and his business sold and no rights to the profits of sale.
I will watch it again, but I have a feeling it will need to do something very unexpected for me to think this is anything other than another weird phenomenon series.

Hmmm....I haven't seen that. In fact, I don't think I've heard of it before. Sounds like it could be interesting, though.

The opening episode in this "mini series" was absolutely great. It set up a cool mystery and introduced some pretty interesting characters and ideas. I watched the next few episodes and they tended to be much less interesting, although they weren't in any way terrible. The problem, to me, is that they moved from a story about "ideas" to stories about indvidual characters, or sort of a soap opera.
The basic premise of the series has to do with the people who "disappear," apparently by being abducted by some alien force. I won't tell anymore because if you get a chance you should certainly see the first episode.
